According to the Daily News on September 15th, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Tabit Kombo, met with the UK Climate Secretary, Dame Katie White (MP), in Whitehall, London. The two sides discussed opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the areas of climate action, renewable energy, and conservation. During the meeting, Minister Kombo emphasized Tanzania's firm commitment to clean cooking, renewable energy, forestry, and marine conservation, and shared related achievements, such as distributing 300000 clean stoves, reducing firewood usage by 48%, and building an energy system mainly based on hydropower (which has a remaining power generation capacity of 4000 megawatts, but the actual demand is only 1900 megawatts). Minister Kombo emphasized that Tanzania is ready to lead regional development in renewable energy, forestry, and clean cooking, while actively seeking fair and sustainable partnerships. Dame Katie White strongly supports Tanzania's initiative and proposes to further deepen cooperation between the two sides through technical assistance, financing mechanisms, and collaborative participation in global climate platforms such as the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference and the United Nations General Assembly.
