Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni expressed support for Nigerian industrialist Arico Dangote's proposed multi billion dollar regional refinery project, while clearly reiterating that the Homa refinery project with a daily production capacity of 60000 barrels in Uganda will proceed as originally planned. This position was announced by President Museveni and Dangote after a high-level meeting held on Sunday in the Nakashiro state capital. During the meeting, the two sides discussed deepening energy cooperation, promoting regional industrialization, and formulating a long-term oil security strategy for East Africa. The core topic of this meeting is the proposed regional refinery, which is expected to have a total investment of between 15 billion and 17 billion US dollars. After being put into operation, the daily processing capacity of crude oil can reach 650000 barrels, and it will supply refined oil products to markets in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and other regions.
