The Tanzanian government has initiated consultations with inland dry port operators and various public institutions to discuss how to expand and enhance the capacity of inland container depots, thereby absorbing the growing freight volume at Dar es Salaam Port. This initiative aims to alleviate port congestion, improve cargo transportation and warehousing efficiency, and enhance overall trade vitality, empowering national economic development. At the opening ceremony of the Inland Port Construction and Operation Stakeholders Conference held in Dar es Salaam, Muhammad Salum, General Manager of the Tanzania Shipping Agency Company (TASAC), pointed out that inland port operators should promptly plan for land expansion to meet the increasing cargo transfer demands of Dar es Salaam Port. He noted that the current monthly cargo handling capacity of the port has reached 110,000 tons, far exceeding the initial design capacity of 28,000 tons, highlighting the necessity of expanding container storage facilities.
