Private sector participants in Rwanda's energy sector are exploring the potential of factories as a renewable energy source, which aligns with the country's ambitious goal of diversifying its clean energy structure and meeting the continuously growing energy demand. Ivan Tevajira Shema, Chairman of Energy Private Developers, stated during the opening ceremony of the 5th Renewable Energy for Sustainable Growth Conference and Exhibition held in Kigali on September 9th that the industry is actively promoting innovation to meet modern energy demands. He emphasized that although the government plays a regulatory role, the private sector is vigorously promoting investment in renewable energy, including hydropower, solar energy, and emerging sources of plant-based fuels. Infrastructure Minister Jimmy Gasol pointed out that Rwanda has made some progress in expanding renewable energy capacity, but in order to achieve long-term goals, it is necessary to accelerate the pace of related work.
