According to Monitor on September 3rd, President Museveni opened four new factories in the Mbale Industrial Park in Mbale City last Friday, emphasizing once again that industrialization is the key to solving Uganda's youth unemployment problem. The newly put into operation factories include Yougang Investment Uganda Limited, Nice Textile Uganda Limited, Xinlong Textile and Clothing Technology Limited, and Wood and Paper Industry Limited. The addition of these new factories has brought the total number of operating factories in the park to 73, creating over 11000 job opportunities. In addition to these four new factories, the President also held groundbreaking ceremonies for nine other factories, including Cheung Kong Industries, Prantick Industries Sma Uganda, Elgon Steel Uganda, Shengtang Machinery Manufacturing Uganda, Hercules Automotive Manufacturing Uganda Limited, Hyland Industries Limited, Mino Technology Uganda Limited, Foton Hardware Uganda Limited, and Ovan Clothing Company. The Zhongwumbale Industrial Park was put into use in 2018 with a total investment of 600 million US dollars (approximately 2.4 trillion Ugandan shillings) and covers an area of 619 acres.
