According to Star on August 28th, Kenya is vigorously promoting the development of sustainable bioeconomy by building partnerships that combine policy, research, and private sector innovation. The core of this work is to advance the Kenya Bioeconomy Development Project, which is led by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) in collaboration with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance and supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. This initiative aims to accelerate the application of biological resources in agriculture, industry, and energy, while promoting innovation, increasing green employment opportunities, and enhancing climate adaptation capabilities. It also promotes cooperation between stakeholders in Kenya and Sweden, with Sweden providing technical expertise and policy knowledge for this purpose. At a recent seminar, the project brought together policy makers, researchers, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, and international partners to jointly develop a roadmap for four priority clusters: value-added and circular food systems, bio based agricultural investment, bio based industrial products, and sustainable bioenergy.
