According to the Daily News on August 19th, the government has announced a plan aimed at increasing domestic high-quality seed production, reducing high dependence on imported seeds, and ensuring that farmers can obtain improved seeds before the agricultural season arrives. Mr. Leonard Mavika, Acting Director of the Agricultural Seed Agency (ASA), stated in a speech last weekend in Dodoma that the government has developed a strategy to ensure sufficient seed production and timely distribution to farmers. He pointed out that the purpose of this strategy is to ensure that farmers can obtain high-quality seeds at reasonable prices before the start of the farming season. Mr. Mavika explained that the government has invested heavily in the agricultural sector and will continue to collaborate with the private sector to increase seed yields. He also added that these seeds will be sold at affordable prices, allowing every farmer to access high-quality seeds, thereby promoting national agricultural production and increasing profitability.
