The factory will be put into operation in mid-2024 and is owned by Inyange Industries. As of now, it only produces industrial grade milk powder for reconstituted milk, rather than milk powder for direct consumption. In the past year, the company sold 718 tons of this milk powder, of which 90% was exported and the rest was sold locally. At present, its price is about 8000 Rwandan francs per kilogram, which is in line with international prices. On August 8th, during Prime Minister Justin Ensengiyumwa's visit to the factory, James Biseruka, the company's general manager, said, "We are expanding our product line to produce instant milk powder so that consumers can use our products like they do with NIDO (an imported milk powder brand). ”He also added that this consumer oriented product may be launched as early as September, and the specific price will be announced at that time.
