According to the Daily News on July 27th, Gilead Terry, Director General of Tanzania's Investment and Economic Zones Authority, stated that the completion of the East African Commercial and Logistics Centre (EACLC) will drive the country's trade growth, increasing the value of goods exports to over 300 billion Tanzanian dollars annually. Before the official launch of the center on August 2, 2025, Mr. Terry announced in a speech to reporters in Dar es Salaam today that the event will be hosted by President Samia of the United Republic of Tanzania. Terry urged local government authorities across the country to designate special zones for implementing similar projects as a way to accelerate economic growth and contribute to national fiscal revenue through taxation. At the same time, Ms. Wang Jialing, Director General of the East African Trade and Logistics Center, called on local entrepreneurs and business owners to seize the opportunities brought by the new center and improve their own economic situation.
