According to the New Times on July 20th, the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) urges customs clearance and transportation agents to uphold professionalism, strictly comply with laws and regulations, and emphasizes that their actions have a direct impact on trade facilitation and economic development. On July 18th, the Assistant Director of Customs Operations at the General Administration of Customs, Cabella, delivered a speech at the 9th graduation ceremony of the Customs and Freight Logistics Certificate Course. Up to 245 graduates obtained relevant certificates after completing a one-year training program in Kigali and Lusumo. The courses covered in this training include customs clearance, customs valuation, tariff classification of goods, freight forwarding services, port clearance, warehousing services, and warehousing procedures. This certificate is one of the key requirements for customs clearance agency licensing in the East African Community (EAC) region. Kabela stated that customs clearance and freight forwarding are important partners in ensuring the effective cross-border flow of goods, as they play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with customs laws and procedures, enhancing transparency, and accelerating customs clearance processes.
