According to Monitor on July 3rd, international exhibitors from the Netherlands, South Africa, and Kenya showcased advanced soil testing technology aimed at helping Uganda's small farmers improve agricultural productivity. These exhibitors were invited by the Uganda National Farmers' Federation (UNFFE) to participate in the annual agricultural exhibition currently being held in Jinja. This year's agricultural exhibition will focus on imparting key knowledge of soil management to local farmers. Many local farmers still rely on traditional methods, such as guessing or being influenced by peers, to decide what crops to plant. The international team is holding public lectures and interactive training courses for farmer groups from all over the country. These activities aim to enable farmers to regain mastery of the best practices in soil management - a often overlooked yet essential aspect of modern agriculture. In addition to lectures, exhibitors also set up small laboratories to demonstrate how soil testing directly affects fertilizer use and increases overall yield. Farmers can intuitively observe how testing soil samples can achieve precise and effective utilization of inputs, and result in better returns for their farmland.
