According to the Monitor on June 17th, according to Uganda's 2024 e-Mobility Outlook report, 12 companies in the electric transportation ecosystem have invested over $160 million in research and development, manufacturing, and charging infrastructure between 2018 and 2024. The report by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation emphasized that the Ugandan government contributed 70% of the investment share. In the preface of the report, Monica Musenero, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, clearly stated: "Through our intentional financial and non-financial interventions, we have attracted over $160 million in investment and established the country's capacity to produce up to 10000 electric vehicles annually, with local content reaching up to 40%." The report released on the eve of this year's National Science and Technology Week reveals that the total investment commitment of the private sector over the next five years will climb to $800 million. The 2025 National Science and Technology Week, scheduled to be held this week, will vividly showcase the significant progress made by technological innovation in driving Uganda's economy to achieve a qualitative leap. This exhibition will be held in Kololo and will showcase products that are suitable for the Ugandan market.
