Agricultural experts and water engineers reached a consensus at the Green Drops Summit in Kampala, urging national institutions, agricultural practitioners, and land operators to accelerate the deployment of intelligent irrigation systems to address the dual challenges of sustainable water resource utilization and agricultural production stability. Senior irrigation engineer Aloysius Mubangizi emphasized in his keynote speech that intelligent irrigation equipment driven by artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and automation technology will become a key tool for reshaping Uganda's agricultural ecology. This type of innovative system constructs a dynamic irrigation model by tracking soil moisture, micro meteorological changes, and crop transpiration water demand in real time. While reducing water resource loss by 35%, it achieves precise regulation of farmland water use and significantly improves cost-effectiveness.
