Tanzania's Deputy Energy Minister Salome Makamba stated that the country is leveraging various opportunities in the oil and gas sector to continuously foster a favorable investment environment, thereby driving domestic economic growth. Makamba made these remarks during a ministerial dialogue on investment and strengthening international cooperation in the oil and gas sector, held as part of the India Energy Week (IEW 2026) celebration in Goa, India. She explained that the government is conducting ongoing seismic data surveys in the Lake Eyasi-Manyara, Lindi, and Mtwara blocks while engaging in discussions with investors on the implementation of major strategic projects, including liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects. Additionally, the deputy minister noted that the government is heavily investing in natural gas distribution projects, which are intended for industrial use, power generation, household consumption, and transportation (particularly as vehicle fuel).
