Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, the President of Zanzibar, solemnly promises to local and foreign investors that his government will continue to work towards creating a favorable investment environment by implementing tax incentives and simplifying administrative procedures to achieve this goal. Dr. Mwini delivered the above speech on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the naming ceremony of Azam Company's new ship, "Kilimanjaro IX". He pointed out that the comprehensive reform of investment policies, laws and regulations, and guidelines has created favorable conditions for the private sector to fully participate in market competitive business activities. Therefore, he emphasized that the government will continue to strengthen the infrastructure construction in this field, including upgrading all port facilities on Pemba Island and Wengjia Island, developing new modern ports to improve the quality of national transportation services, and alleviating congestion pressure on existing facilities. He further stated that the government is working closely with the private sector and is currently advancing the construction project of the Mpigaduli Port, which will serve multiple functions such as a passenger terminal, freight facilities, and tourist terminal.
