An Egyptian investor is exploring plans to establish a leather manufacturing and processing plant in Rwanda, pointing out that the country's leather industry is well-organized and will continue to grow in the international market. Hesham Gazar, CEO of Leather and More, stated that the well-organized leather industry in Rwanda and the supply of high-quality leather provide vast opportunities for shoe manufacturing, as well as the production of gelatin, collagen, and pharmaceuticals. Gazar further stated that after developing a detailed roadmap, he will be able to estimate the scale of the proposed investment. He pointed out that this visit exceeded expectations, and local parties showed strong interest and a positive willingness to cooperate. He attributed the improvement in leather quality to significant improvements in livestock feeding methods, including providing suitable enclosures, disease prevention, and timely feeding. When livestock are well cared for, the quality of leather will improve. Preventing parasitic infections is crucial because damaged leather will depreciate significantly during processing, "he emphasized.
