President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni pointed out that since the National Resistance Movement (NRM) came to power, Uganda's economy has achieved significant growth, with the scale expanding twenty times its original size. It is expected that by June next year, the country's total economic output will reach 66 billion US dollars, compared to only 3.9 billion US dollars in 1986. On Sunday afternoon, during a speech to leaders of the national resistance movement from the Bujisu region in Mbale, Museveni emphasized that this significant transformation was due to the government's strategic investment in industrialization and infrastructure construction. Museveni said, "Uganda's economy has grown from $3.9 billion to an estimated $66 billion by June next year." The conference was jointly convened by Anita Amonge, the second vice president (female) of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and the party's secretary-general Richard Todwang. Attendees included village chiefs at all levels of the NRM, leaders of local administrative committees, and party flag bearers. Amunge pointed out that the conference aims to "strengthen and enhance the construction of party organizations, so that communities can fully understand the service provision planned by the government according to the National Resistance Movement Declaration." As the guest of honor, Museveni called on leaders at all levels to strictly supervise government projects, emphasizing that development cannot be separated from disciplined and honest leadership. I hope that leaders can closely monitor government projects and promote outstanding leaders who are committed to development, "he said.
