According to the Daily News on November 18th, Tanzania has announced an ambitious agenda to accelerate the development of its horticulture industry after successfully hosting the first Horticultural Business and Investment Summit (HoBIS) in Dar es Salaam. This high-level forum is jointly hosted by the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) and the Ministry of Agriculture, bringing together government officials, investors, producers, financiers, and regional partners to jointly promote the sub industry into a new stage of competition and achieve export-oriented expansion. Dr. Jacqueline Mjindi, CEO of TAHA, pointed out that one of the important outcomes of the summit was to establish "Hobis" as an annual event held on August 1st, coinciding with the date of Farmers' Day (Nana Nana). This measure is expected to enhance the impact of the summit and turn it into a key platform for investment commitments, policy coordination, and cross departmental cooperation. The attending delegates further recognized 'African Horticultural Logistics' as a regular event held in Arusha every November, making Tanzania a hub for regional horticultural logistics, technology deployment, and supply chain innovation. In addition to event positioning, the summit also adopted a comprehensive strategy aimed at packaging and promoting attractive horticultural investment opportunities throughout the year. The organizers emphasized that this sustained effort will become a catalyst for attracting capital, strengthening the value chain, and helping producers enter higher value markets.
