The European Gold Refinery, founded by Beenard Feni, has become Uganda's first gold refining enterprise wholly owned by Ugandans. The refinery has successfully obtained a mining license for Mubende from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, marking an important step for Uganda in promoting responsible and inclusive gold mining. The license handover ceremony was held at the Bukia Town Council in Mubende District, presided over by Agnes Alaba, the mining commissioner representing the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa. This breakthrough follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Euro Gold and the Mubende Artisanal Miners Association on November 3 at Euro Gold's headquarters in Kampala, establishing a new partnership. According to the agreement, Euro Gold will directly purchase gold from Mubende's artisanal miners and refine it to 99% (24K) purity for international market trading. This move aims to strengthen Uganda's gold value chain and ensure that local miners can directly benefit from their labor. Beenard Feni, the founder and CEO of Euro Gold Refinery, once again emphasized the company's firm commitment to building an ethical and sustainable gold industry.
