According to a report by the Ethiopian News Agency on October 28, the African Union Commission reiterated that both China and Africa urgently seek to deepen cooperation in agriculture, science, and technology, aiming to accelerate economic growth and safeguard the continent's food sovereignty. Professor Gaspard Bayangi Mbona, Commissioner of the African Union for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, stated in an interview with the Ethiopian News Agency that Sino-African cooperation has played a pivotal role in advancing agricultural development and innovation in Africa, contributing to sustainable development. These remarks were made at the Alliance for Agricultural Innovation and Technology conference held in Addis Ababa, which focused on promoting agricultural development through technological innovation, market expansion, and value chain enhancement to strengthen the China-Africa partnership. He emphasized the critical importance of deepening cooperation to fully leverage China's advanced expertise in modern agriculture, digital technology, and water resource management. He also noted that this collaboration aligns closely with the African Union's "African Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy (2025-2034)" and the "Agenda 2063." "Africa stands at a crossroads, facing immense opportunities to achieve sustainable development through innovation," he reiterated.
