According to a report by *Star* on October 15, Kenya is actively promoting the development of service trade across the region and the entire African continent, marking its latest initiative to explore opportunities beyond goods trade. This effort is conducted under the frameworks of the East African Community (EAC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), with key export sectors in service trade covering professional services, tourism, education, healthcare, financial services, information and communication technology, cultural and sports services, as well as transportation and logistics. The country advocates for the establishment of a unified and liberalized service market across the African continent, an initiative supported by the East African Business Council. The council also urges the EAC to embrace service trade to drive economic growth and job creation. Elizabeth Miguwa, Acting Director of the Internal Trade Department in the Ministry of Trade, stated yesterday that the service sector plays a crucial role in the economies of East Africa, and Kenya is eager to seize these opportunities. Miguwa delivered her remarks at a service export training session held in Nairobi by the East African Business Council in collaboration with the German Institute for International and Development Cooperation, the European Union, the Global Gateway Initiative, Germany's Cooperation Organization, and the East African Community.
