According to Daily News on September 17th, SATURN plans to launch pickup truck assembly business in the country from mid to late next year. This move marks a crucial step in its business expansion and also helps the country advance its industrialization process. This strategic decision not only enriches the company's product range, but also aligns closely with Tanzania's broader industrial development goals, aiming to enhance local manufacturing capabilities, create employment opportunities, and reduce dependence on imported vehicles. This expansion reflects the continued strengthening of confidence in the Tanzanian market and indicates that the automotive industry landscape in the region may change. The company is currently responsible for assembling heavy-duty trucks made in China, stating that this move is to meet the growing demand in key areas such as agriculture, mining, and regional transportation. Mr. Rehballah Habib, General Manager of Saturn Corporation, said, "We have noticed that the demand for pickup trucks is constantly increasing. Around July or August next year, we will start assembling 1-ton and 1.5-ton pickup trucks. Saturn Limited is expanding its product range and preparing to launch light trucks weighing between 5 and 15 tons, targeting both domestic and export markets. He said that this expansion initiative complements the company's existing vehicle lineup. These vehicles have been put into use in the mineral rich agricultural areas of Tanzania and used for cross-border transportation to neighboring countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
