According to the Daily News on June 29th, the government's fertilizer subsidy program aims to assist farmers in reforming the agricultural sector, and the program has won widespread praise from various stakeholders in Tanzania. Previously, the Tanzania Fertilizer Authority (TFRA) conducted a nationwide survey aimed at evaluating the actual effectiveness of the subsidy program launched three years ago. This survey has attracted manufacturers, investors, and users active in the rapidly expanding fertilizer market, who are committed to seeking development opportunities with long-term value and positive impact. To address the challenges that have long constrained agricultural productivity, such as insufficient agricultural inputs, poor soil health management, and difficulties in obtaining high-quality fertilizers, the President has launched this fertilizer subsidy program. This program aims to improve the supply, quality, and efficiency of fertilizers nationwide, while promoting good soil health practices to build a more resilient and dynamic fertilizer industry system. According to TFRA's investigation, ETG companies, whose business covers multiple fields such as agricultural inputs, have confirmed that subsidy programs have significantly improved the accessibility, affordability, utilization rate, and financing convenience of fertilizers. ETG also specifically pointed out that the plan has achieved key results in strengthening fertilizer information systems, optimizing the business environment, enhancing private sector capabilities, improving institutional management frameworks, and strengthening quality assurance services.
