2026-01-06 10:35120

As 2025 draws to a close, Kenyans are eagerly preparing to welcome the arrival of 2026. The government has announced a series of infrastructure construction projects nationwide, marking the arrival of a transformative period aimed at strengthening connectivity, promoting economic growth, and improving living standards. These measures cover road expansion, railway extension, sports facilities, water infrastructure, and power transmission projects, reflecting the comprehensive strategy of national development. These projects are strategically distributed across the country, focusing on both urban and rural areas to ensure fair distribution of economic opportunities and regional integration. One of the most anticipated projects is the two lane expansion project of the 170 kilometer long Lioni Nevasha Maufeng Expressway, which started construction on November 28, 2025, announced by President William Ruto. On the same day, the construction of the Lioni Mayi Mashu Naivasha highway was also launched, which widened an important southern corridor along the 58 kilometer road.
