David Kihunzile, Deputy Minister of Transport of Tanzania, has launched a brand new stacker crane for Zambia Freight and Logistics Company (ZCL) at the Mukuba freight yard in Dar es Salaam. He emphasized that this move is a crucial step in strengthening cooperation between Tanzania and Zambia in the transportation sector. In his speech at the event, Jihengzilai praised ZCL for successfully increasing its cargo throughput from 15649 containers in 2021 to over 40000 containers by 2025. This significant improvement not only reflects a leap in operational efficiency, but also demonstrates the huge investment in Dar es Salaam Port infrastructure. The Deputy Minister also pointed out that Tanzania is continuously improving its port, railway, road, and border infrastructure to further promote regional trade development. The specific projects include the construction of Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), the comprehensive upgrade of Dar es Salaam Port, and the expansion project of Mtwara Port. In addition, Kihunzile urged Zambia to accelerate the opening process of the one-stop border crossing in Nakonde, in order to effectively alleviate the vehicle congestion problem in the Thunduma Nakonde area.
